Islam

(A Few Thoughts, Informative Videos, and References)

Events for years leading up to the catastrophe of 9/11/01, and then after have been very disturbing.  Without going into all of the facts and instances that have been covered over and over again, I want to comment on what I believe is an historical and  universal problem.  That is, Religious Fundamentalist Thought and Behavior.   These problems exist in Christianity.  For example, some protestant sects believe every literal word in the Bible.  This is true even though the document has been translated into English, ultimately from the Greek, and originated maybe 100 years after Christ, before which the stories were passed by word of mouth.  Judaism and Islam fundamentalist believers are probably in the same category.  So I reject this belief of arbitrary, man-made words because it can and has lead to irrational, dangerous, and violent behavior, by these unthinking, ignorant people.

Middle eastern people have contributed to humanity in more ways than I know, for sure.  But it seems after great progress, even with the advent of Islam, the culture has leveled off and "morphed", and hardened into a throwback society with a huge angry, ignorant, and violent faction that is against natural human rights and values.  These would be the Wahabbis, Al Qaeda, and the Taliban, all fundamentalist cults of Islam.   Islamic Madrasas are poising the Muslim youth and there seems to be no relief in sight.  Iran is being run by the Mullas, and the United States is "bowing" to Saudi Arabia because if it's energy dependency.  I believe that Islam is not just a religion, but an all encompassing culture that is totally incompatible with Western thought and civilization.  To gain a, perhaps "politically incorrect", insight into Islam, read, "The Sword of the Prophet", by Serge Trifkovic.  See the Review by Paul Eidelberg.

Biblical punishment for "offences against God" is cruel, but outdated and for the most part, not currently practiced.  On the contrary, Islamic Law (shiria) may be used by fundamentalist Muslims.  See the next page!!  Ugh . . . !

I recently discovered a "bright light" in the Arab world .  Dhiyaa Al-Musawi is an intellectual and liberal author who lives in Bahrain, an island off the coast of Saudi Arabia in the Persian Gulf.  An interview,  in December 29, 2006 was made available by MemriTV,  The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) was founded in 1998 in  Washington ,  DC to bridge the language gap between the  Middle East and the West, and the remarkable and encouraging video is shown below.  As a friend of mine said, "Here is a history lesson for today.  If only we could clone this thought and spread it around."

So I'm trying to spread it around by putting it on this website!!!

Here's something that all Americans need to see and hear and study.

It is the landmark speech laying out The American Islamic Forum for Democracy's (AIFD) mission.  In view of Islam's violent and oppressive Middle Eastern cultural, it suggests that some American Muslims can appear to be  moderate and even patriotic.  However, this group is a small, almost negligible sample of the World Muslims, and even of American Muslims.  Take the speech for what it is.   Then read "Zuhdi Jasser, M.D.: Islam's Luther-or its Don Quixote?" By Timothy R. Furnish . . . and you decide if it is credible.

Dr. Zuhdi Jasser joins leading freedom activists in the Oslo Freedom Forum 2010 as  he delivers,

"How Islam Works with Democracy"
